Luxembourg: Draft Bill On Additional Public Holiday And Vacation Day

The draft bill no. 7399 was unanimously adopted on March 27, 2019. Therefore, from now on, May 9 will be a public holiday (11 public holidays in total) and the vacation days to be granted to the employees will be increased to 26 days per year, up from 25 days previously. The final legal provisions have not yet been published in the official Gazette. The provisions will nevertheless be applicable as of January 1, 2019: May 9, 2019 will thus be a public holiday and the employees will be entitled to a minimum of 26 vacation days in 2019 for full-time employment. It is recommended to review the wording in the employment contracts, or any other agreements, with respect to vacation days and/or rest days.
