Poland: Maternity Benefits in the Event of Miscarriage

Since 6 August 2025, it is now much easier to obtain maternity benefits after the loss of a child.

Under the new regulations, the basis for granting it is a certificate from a doctor or midwife confirming the stillbirth. Previously, it is the child’s birth certificate. This change eliminates the need to determine the sex, which was a major obstacle in the case of miscarriages in the early stages of pregnancy.
