Some important employment-related developments in Turkey include the increase in minimum wage and the increase in upper limit severance payment.

National Minimum Wage Increase
The decision of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission has been published in the National Gazette on 27.12.2024. Accordingly, starting from 01.01.2025, the monthly gross National Minimum Wage has been determined as TRY 26,005.50 (which corresponds to net TRY 22,104.67).
The previous National Minimum Wage, which was in effect between 01.01.2024 – 31.12.2024, was gross TRY 20,002.50 (which corresponded to net TRY 17,002.12).
National Minimum Wage may be increased again in July 2025.
Upper Limit for Severance Payment Increase
The circular letter of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance has been issued on 06.01.2025. Accordingly, starting from 01.01.2025, the upper limit regarding severance payment calculations has been determined as TRY 46,655.43.
In accordance with the new increase, if an employee’s monthly gross salary is higher than the aforementioned upper limit, severance payment must be calculated based on such upper limit, i.e. TRY 46,655.43. Employees with monthly salaries lower than the upper limit amount shall not be affected.
The previous upper limit, which was in effect between 01.07.2024 – 31.12.2024, was TRY 41,828.42.
The upper limit for severance pay may be increased again in July 2025.
