UK: GDPR due to come into force 25 May 2018

Businesses across Europe have been reviewing and preparing for the change in data protection laws in every area where they gather and process personal data. In the UK, the Data Protection Bill, taken together with the GDPR, will form the basis of the rules to which businesses operating in the UK must adhere. The Data Protection Bill will replace the current Data Protection Act 1998 but has not yet, at the time of writing, received final approval by the UK Parliament.

Clyde & Co Employment team have prepared an article focusing on the particular issues that businesses have as employers in relation to the new law. The article is aimed particularly at HR departments and employment in-house counsel and sets out the 10 key questions which employers should be asking themselves to help prepare for the introduction of GDPR.
