France: Equality between men and women : companies have three years to be compliant
As of a date that will be set out by decree, and at the latest by 1 January 2019 or 2020 depending on the size of the company, employers of at least 50 employees will have the obligation to publish each year indicators relating to the differences in remuneration between women and men and the actions that the company has taken to eliminate these. If the results of the pay gap measures are below a level defined by a decree that is yet to be issued, the employer is required to negotiate a wage catch-up plan.
Employers concerned have 3 years to comply. If, at the end of this period, the results obtained are still below the level set out by the decree, they may be subject to a financial penalty, the amount of which may reach a maximum of 1% of the total payroll.
