Colombia: Bogota reaches the 90% of ICU occupancy and extends the sectorized quarantine

On the 12^th of July, Bogotá decided to implement a strict quarantine sectorized by some localities of the city, following the virus infection rate and its evolution, applicable until the 15^th of August. The measure limited the free movement of pedestrians and vehicles and included five exceptions to guarantee the basic needs and rights of the citizens. In any case, a daily curfew from 7:59pm to 5:00 am must be respected in those localities.

However, and before the measure ended, the Mayor of Bogota extended it until the 31^st of August over some localities of the city. According to the reasons given for the measure on Decree 186, the Mayor is trying to avoid an over occupation of the ICU, having that the average ICU occupancy for July was around 90%. In addition, the Mayor explains that the localities affected by the last isolation measure represent the 16.8% of the COVID-19 infection rate of the entire city.

In the end, this isolation measure ends at the same time of the mandatory preventive isolation ordered by the Colombian government, and all together coincide with the ending of the National Sanitary Emergency decreed as of the 12^th  of March, 2020, which, if it is not extended, will activate different actions in the country (as international flights and the reactivation of some administrative processes)
