UK: Brexit Changes in 2021

The main changes to the UK Immigration framework were covered by the Citizens Rights’ provisions in the Withdrawal Agreement and were therefore independent of and unaffected by the Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA). The TCA does formalise changes to some of the provisions regulating permitted business visitor activities, albeit whilst ratified by the UK, the TCA will only come into force fully once ratified by the EU, which requires approval by the EU Council and subsequent approval by the European parliament. This process is unlikely to be completed prior to 28 February. The UK is provisionally applying its obligations under the TCA pending full implementation and we are in the process of preparing a further update on those areas covered by the TCA.
