Colombia: Bogota is on “red alert” due to the ICU occupancy over 90%

In January, Bogotá has been under several measures to cope with the second epidemiological peak of COVID-19 virus in the country, following the “red alert” declaration by the Health Secretary of the District of Bogota issued on 7 January 2021. Currently the country is under Sanitary Emergency until February 28, which has allowed the following measures in the capital:

  • Night curfew from 8pm to 4 am.
  • Strict quarantine in different sectors of the city, according to the infection rates and the DORSCON levels (Disease Outbreak Response System Condition) of each sector.
  • Strict quarantine during some weekends in the entire city.
  • Nevertheless, special and essential activities are allowed in order to guarantee the life and health of the citizens.

In the end, more isolation measures are expected in the capital and big cities in the country, at least until the ending of the National Sanitary Emergency, which, if it is not extended, will activate different actions in the country (as the reactivation of some administrative processes).
