Faster processing of temporary residence permit applications for nationals of selected countries

On 28 September 2026, the third version of the draft amendment to the Act on Foreigners was published on the website of the Government Legislation Centre (RCL). The changes are intended to shorten the waiting time for a decision on a temporary residence permit for nationals of selected third countries.  

The draft provides for a tacit approval mechanism: if the voivode (regional governor) does not issue a decision within 60 days, the application will be deemed granted. The solution is to apply to nationals of Australia, Japan, South Korea, the United States and the United Kingdom.
