Belgium: CJEU’s Landmark Ruling on Obesity and Employment

Obesity constitutes one of the major public health issues of the 21st century. Its impact on employment related matters can hardly be overestimated. If a person’s obesity is considered a handicap, employers will have to provide reasonable accommodations to enable this person to have access to, participate in, or advance in employment, or to undergo training, unless such measures would impose a disproportionate burden on the employer.
