Romania: The Chamber of Deputies has adopted a legislative proposal regarding the enforcement of EU Regulation 2016/679

According to the form adopted by the Chamber of Deputies, the employer can use monitoring systems, including video surveillance only if the legitimate interest of the employer concerns extremely important activities that can be considered to be more important than the employee’s interest; the employer previously informed the employees in a complete and explicit way; the employer consulted the union or the employees representatives; other less intrusive methods have previously failed to be effective; the duration of the storage of the personal data is proportional with the scope, but no longer than 30 days except for special cases stated by law.
