Mexico: Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO), Mexico’s elected President, presented the program ‘Young Building the Future’

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO), Mexico’s elected President, presented the emerging program ‘Young Building the Future’, which will be implemented starting December 1, 2018.

During the first 100 days of the new government, this project will pursue the granting of scholarships to 300 thousand young people who have been rejected by public schools and universities, or who do not have economic resources to continue their studies; the scholarships will amount MXP $2,400.00 pesos (around US $126.31 dollars) for those who decide to continue with their middle and higher education. The sole requisite is to keep on studying.

In a second stage, the plan for young, which will start within the first three months of the new administration consists of training 2 million 300 thousand young people for their first job opportunity as apprentices in different companies established across the country. This means that the government will pay for the training for one year and each youngster will be paid 1.5 the minimum wages, which equals approx. MXP $3,600.00 pesos (around US $189.47 dollars) monthly.

Luisa Maria Alcalde, proposed by AMLO as next Minister of Labour will be responsible for this program, which is highly ambitious for youths worldwide.
