Peru: Immediate Coverage granted to Pregnant Employees affiliated with the Public Social Security System

Law No. 31469 amends article 10 of Law No. 26790 on the Modernisation of Social Security in Health, specifying that in case the affiliate or beneficiary to EsSalud is pregnant, the right to coverage will be granted immediately upon membership.

Therefore, in the case of pregnant women, in order to enjoy their health benefits (medical care) as well as their economic benefits (maternity allowance) from EsSalud (social security system), the requirement of having three consecutive or four non-consecutive months of contributions within six calendar months prior to pregnancy will not be required.
