France: Bill on Workplace Sexual and Sexist Violence Prevention Registered with French Parliament on 2 December 2025
On 2 December 2025, a new bill relating to sexual and sexist violence was registered with the French Parliament. It contains potential new obligations for employers, namely with regards training obligations.
Following over a year of cross-party discussions, a wide-ranging new bill on sexual and sexist violence was registered with the French Parliament.
It contains specific obligations on preventing such behaviour in the workplace:
- Mandatory training for all staff
- Inclusion of this topic during the career meetings to be organized with employees every 4 years
- Mandatory nomination of a sexual harassment and sexist behaviour contact person in all companies with 50 employees or more (currently this only applies in companies with 250 employees).
Victims will be entitled to paid time off if they need to deal with legal, medical, psychological, or administrative issues related to such violence.
This topic would also need to be included in the scope of the mandatory collective bargaining at branch level.
There is currently no visibility on when the bill could be examined by the French Parliament.
