Verification of job candidates’ university diplomas
On 6 October 2026, the Council of Ministers adopted a draft act amending the Act – Law on Higher Education and Science, which will allow employers to check with universities whether paper university diplomas are authentic.
Verification will be possible where there are reasonable doubts and will cover job candidates and employees, excluding persons engaged solely under civil-law contracts, including B2B contracts. The consent of the person concerned will not be required.
Applications will be submitted electronically, and the university will have 30 days to respond. The verification fee will amount to 1% of the minimum remuneration.
The amendment is to enter into force 30 days after its publication.
