Chile: Chile Launches Expedited Multiple-Entry Business Visa for Indian Nationals
The Chilean Government has officially launched a new multiple-entry business visa (“Permiso ingresos múltiples personas de negocios” — VISTUR) specifically designed for Indian nationals engaged in business, investment, or technical activities in Chile.
India is one of Chile’s most strategic partners: bilateral trade exceeded USD 5.6 billion in 2025, Chilean exports to India grew over 200% in Q1 2026, and accumulated Indian investment in Chile stands at USD 643 million. The VISTUR is a concrete step to deepen that relationship by removing a practical barrier that discouraged business travel and on-the-ground engagement.
The announcement was made by Foreign Minister Francisco Pérez Mackenna during his meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, in the context of ongoing negotiations toward a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between both countries.
What Has Changed
Until now, Indian citizens were among the few nationalities still required to obtain a consular visa for each trip to Chile — a lengthy process that often hindered short-notice travel by executives and specialists whose companies operate in the country. The new VISTUR eliminates this friction by offering:
- 2-year validity (730 days) with multiple entries permitted, each for stays of up to 90 days.
- Faster processing times and no need to repeat paperwork for every trip.
Recommended Action
Companies with Indian nationals needing travel to Chile — or plan to — should consider this visa option, since it makes easier entries on short notice or on a recurring basis, as it avoids constant permits applications.
